Brushfire – Expeditionary Force 11

Peacetime can be a rough adjustment for the battle-hardened Merry Band of Pirates.

Especially when aliens don’t get the memo that the shooting is over.

This book has a different pace than the others. In the previous books there was a fast pace throughout, that had you (well it had me) reading the entire thing, as fast as possible.

But this was the first book where i found myself putting it down, and taking a breather.

In the story, it appears The Merry band of pirates, has finally succeeded, Earth is safe and they can finally pop a beer and relax a bit. This is also the overall theme of the story, there is indeed some action, but nowhere near where it was in the previous books.

Where in the former books there was a progression in the overall story, and you could see this was going somewhere, that feeling is not really there in my opinion in this book.

Which is really a shame, since all the others have been really great! This one felt more like a breather, like taking a pause.. Like it didn’t really matter?

If you are a fan of the series, i would still recommend you to read it.

But where the rest i would have given them a 5 star rating, this one has been lower.

I give it 3/5 stars
